Description:

The “Evaluating our Capacity: A Discussion of Capability for Ongoing Climate Assessment in the Colorado River Basin” workshop which will take place June 6 – 8, 2011 in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop is being offered by The Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS), in collaboration with the Western Water Assessment (WWA) and the California‐Nevada Applications Program (CNAP). The workshop will focus on the research and institutional capacity for conducting ongoing climate change assessment in the Colorado River Basin, in a multi-sector context. Plenary presentations will outline the current state of climate change assessment and adaptation in the basin, and key challenges for avoiding maladaptations in work across the agricultural, water and ecosystem management sectors. In breakout sessions, participants will identify needs, gaps and opportunities to develop capacity, and will define metrics for success, in relation to the National Climate Assessment.

If you are flying into Denver Airport, you can take the SuperShuttle to Boulder.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Millennium Harvest House for workshop participants. Please contact Jaimie Galayda if you are interested in a hotel room reservation.

The workshop will take place at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) building on the University of Colorado campus. This building is also referred to as Ekeley Sciences on campus maps.

Transportation between the Millennium Harvest House and CIRES

The Millennium Harvest House is one mile east of the CIRES Administrative Building (see map). If you would prefer not to walk, you can either take The Hop bus or the hotel shuttle.

The hotel shuttle is reserved for workshop participants on the following dates and times (the CIRES pick up and drop off location is 18th Street & Central Campus Mall):

- June 6th, 6:20 pm, shuttle from CIRES to Millennium.

- June 7th, 8:00 am, shuttle from Millennium to CIRES.

- June 7th, 4:15 pm, shuttle from CIRES to Millennium.

- June 8th, 8:00 am, shuttle from Millennium to CIRES.

- June 8th, 12:45 pm, shuttle from CIRES to Millennium.

Parking at CIRES

The Euclid AutoPark lot provides the most convenient parking for the CIRES building. A limited number of parking validation stickers will be available at the registration table.
