Droughtview - Keeping an Eye on Drought: Satellite Based Drought Monitoring and Assessment

CLIMAS Lead:  Michael Crimmins

Drought is currently monitored and examined by a variety of tools. DroughtView brings a new perspective allowing users to compare vegetation and climate data on the fly. Differences in vegetation green from average vegetation greenness can be used as a proxy for drought conditions. The impacts of drought such as wildfire can be measured and examined using DroughtView. DroughtView provides users with the ability to monitor and prepare for drought. Results from DroughtView can be saved for reports and presentations.
