This map shows the regions of the United States and Mexico where valley fever (coccidiodiomycosisis) is most common. Highly endemic regions include areas surrounding Tucson and Phoenix in Arizona and near Bakersfield, California. The fungus is also found in other parts of southern Arizona and California (including areas near Los Angeles and San Diego), as well as in parts of Nevada (near Las Vegas), southern New Mexico, and eastern Texas. Northern Mexico is suspected to be endemic including Baja California, Sonora, and Chihuahua. |
