The WALTER project is an interdisciplinary research initiative aimed at improving our understanding of the processes and consequences of interactions among wildfire, climate and society.

This program at the Desert Research Institute (Reno, Nevada)
provides products and information related to climate, weather, fire and natural resources.

National Interagency Coordination Center’s Predictive Services (NICC)
The National Interagency Coordination Center is the focal point for overseeing all interagency coordination activities throughout the United States.

National Seasonal Assessment Workshops (NSAW)
These conferences develop tools for proactive fire management by bringing together climatologists, predictive service units, and fire managers from across the nation to produce seasonal fire outlook reports.

California Applications Program RISA
The California Applications Program (CAP) and the associated California Climate Change Center (CCCC) aim to develop and provide better climate information and forecasts for decision makers in California and the surrounding region.

Western Water Assessment RISA
The mission of the WWA is to identify and characterize regional vulnerabilities to climate variability and change, and to develop information, products and processes to assist water-resource decision-makers throughout the Intermountain West.

This program aims to develop experimental global to regional predictions of the atmosphere, ocean, and land, at daily to interannual time scales, in collaboration with international partners.

Dr. Thomas Swetnam’s home page
Dr. Swetnam is Director of the University of Arizona Laboratory of Tree- Ring Research and an expert in the field of dendrochronology.

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Landslide Hazards Program
The USGS Landslide Hazards Program conducts research needed to answer the major questions related to landslide hazards, including those induced by wildfires.
