There are few (if any) groups in the Southwestern US that are as closely connected to the land and sensitive to climate variability as cattle ranchers. As stewards of the land, ranchers help preserve the remaining open spaces and environment of the American West. Realistically speaking, it is in everybody’s interests to keep Southwest ranching viable. This presentation is about a new tool that can help you prepare better for the oncoming season and make your operations more resilient to drought. It won’t solve all your problems or provide all the information you need, but if you help us focus our research efforts we can help your ranching and give you a competitive advantage over others who aren’t using climate information.
