Calendar: Planning Workshop to Develop Hydroclimatic Reconstructions for Decision Support in the Colorado River Basin May 5, 2005
Overview The recent drought, with unprecedented impacts in many areas, has created a window of opportunity for collaborations between paleoscientists and water resource managers. In the Colorado Front Range, partnerships between scientists and several water management agencies have resulted in tree-ring based streamflow reconstruction that are now being used in planning and management. Other efforts with the Salt River Project in Arizona are also yielding productive collaborations. This workshop is designed to bring together paleoclimatologists, hydrology and climate scientists, and resource managers concerned with Colorado River water supplies, in order to share lessons learned and chart a course for productive and fruitful future collaborations. This workshop was made possible through funding from the NOAA Climate Change Data and Detection Program and the NOAA Human Dimensions of Global Change Research Program. Note: The workshop is by invitation only and not open to the general public. |
